Hi there! I'm Nongyao, but most people call me Chef Yao.
I’m a proud Thai chef who moved to Montreal over 15 years ago, bringing my culture and flavors with me. B-Spicy is more than just a business for me; it’s a labor of love and a deep connection to my roots. Growing up in a humble rice-farming village in Krasang Buriram, chili paste was a staple in our home. My mom always had a jar on hand, and making it was a family ritual.

A Mother's Love
I remember helping my mom make big batches of paste—time-consuming, but always worth it. We’d toast chilies, garlic, and shallots, then blend in ingredients like dried fish, tamarind paste, lemongrass, and kaffir lime leaves, creating layers of flavor. Those moments weren’t just about cooking; they were about family, love, and survival. Every jar we made was infused with her care, wisdom, and the belief that food connects us to something bigger than ourselves.
